Please Nourish and Strengthen Sister Thompson's Body...

Kia Ora,

This week was good this week was fun.. but it hasnt been real fun. Like for reals its been a long week. But we survived! Its actually been pretty crack up too. A few funny moments and other spiritual moments as well..

Story 1. We went to go and visit a less active family. She is an older lady and she told us her conversion story. She talked about when her daughter was in intermediate school one of her really good friends was a Mormon. So she asked her parents if she could start going to church with her friend. They allowed her too and so as she continued to go she eventually desired to be baptized. With her parents permission she was baptized and then one after another all 9 of her children were baptized. This member told us how she was a heavy smoker and drinker and wanted to be baptized but she knew she couldnt quit those things, she has tried before and it didnt work. The ward members told her how one of the elders fasted for 5 days just for her. A few other things happened as well and her heart was changed and she lost the desire to smoke and drink. Her husband followed a bit after and quit smoking and drinking as well.
The moral of the story is. Because of that one friend from church an entire family was brought into the gospel. Because she decided to invite she was able to change the lives of so many people. My testimony really grew on member missionary work. That all we simply have to do is invite. They could say yes or they could say no. Regardless of the outcome Heavenly Father is still proud of us and that people are being prepared to receive the gospel every single day.

Story 2. This week my stomach decided to go a little crazy and I have been put onto the b.r.a.t. diet. Lol at my life for anyone who knows how picky i am. This diet is bananas, rice, apple sauce, and toast. I will eat most of that but I havent had legit food since Thursday. Life is good. But we went to go and eat at our bishops house on Friday and we told them I wont be eating anything. So when we got there they all already ate as well so it was just my companion eating. So his daughter blessed the food and just prayed to nourish Sister Thompson. It was hilarious. That has pretty much been happening all weekend. I sit there admiring her food. While the members bring me out a piece of bland toast or a bowl of rice. It has taken a lot of will power to not eat yummy food.. may have caved once and it ended badly. So to also relate this somehow to the gospel. Sometimes we are given guidelines and we see all the "yummy goodness" the world is offering and we want to try it but when we do it ends up being good maybe for a moment then back firing and we taste that godly remorse and sorrow. I know that staying within the lines and doing what we are asked to do is so important. So grateful for general conference this upcoming weekend for all you Americans. I hope that you go into it with questions. That you are spiritually prepared to receive the messages Heavenly Father gives to us. That we can all be spiritually fed and uplifted. I hope you have a good week and I love you all heaps!

We went to the American store last Monday. My goodness I was in heaven :)

Played sport with the Elders on Monday.. Lets just say we played hard and were only kinda covered in mud. Ultimate frisbee and American football!!

One night we get a call from Guin.. She decided to buy us a few articles of clothing.. A few minutes later we get a call from Kelly. They bought Sister Thompson a mattress protector. Then a few minutes later Guin returns with Pakuranga Pizza. Howick Ward everyone. We love them and all that they do for us!

What the car looks like when Harmony comes out with us.

Trade offs with Sister Lott. We had a spring clean for our ward activity. Bishop told us to clean the baptismal font since we will never be in there.. Ya know cause we dont hold the priesthood ;)

Feed at the Keungs. They all enjoyed their feast while I ate my rice and apples.

We went to a members house last night and they made me some toast that I got to take home cause all our bread is moldy. Funny story to go along with this visit...
Sister Thompson decided to inform them that I go home in 4 months (They are the stake YSA advisers) So as soon as she said that they both look at me and said "GET MARRIED!!!" Lol I was then telling them "I just miss Christmas, i just miss the uni semester, i just miss my sisters birthday, blah blah blah" And he looks at me and says "but you wont miss the right guy!!"
haha and so it begins!!!

It's the Mormonaries!!

This week was great!! We had zone conference which really focused on the Book of Mormon and Family History. It was really nice to be reminded of the simple tools we have been given to share the gospel to everyone around us. We had dinner with a member family this week and we shared a scripture in Alma 17:11
"11 And the Lord said unto them also: Go forth among the Lamanites, thy brethren, and establish my word; yet ye shall be patient in long-suffering and afflictions, that ye may show forth good examples unto them in me, and will make an instrument of thee in my hands unto the salvation of many souls."

We testified of the importance of being patient in our long suffering and afflictions. It is so much easier to be a Laman and Lemuel and complain to the Lord when things don't go our way instead of turning to him and seeing what we need to learn, and maybe when we go through things its not even for us but its for others to see our strength through that trial. Our member pointed out that it doesnt say our example will help one soul it will help many souls. What an incredible promised blessing. That we can help many souls come unto Christ just by your example.

Side Story.. Yesterday a member gave a talk on "when in Rome" He then said why cant we say "when in Utah?" I cracked up cause everyone here thinks Utah is like Mormon Wonderland. But he was just talking about the trends of the world and how we say well When in rome its okay to drink, or when in Rome its okay to smoke, or when in Rome its okay to look at pornography. When really its not okay at all. We shouldnt just say its okay we can do it because everyone else is but we should be doing what we know to be right. So When in Utah choose the right!!

To go back to Alma and the Book of Mormon from Zone Conference, I was thinking of when I got set apart for my mission. How President Madsen talked about Alma 17 and the Sons of Mosiah and Alma. Honestly I was like who the heck are those people. I read the Book of Mormon before I knew the church was true but I didnt know the gospel. I still dont know it obviously but I am grateful for the understanding I have gained through out my mission. My testimony has grown so much on the spirit. That when we sincerely want to know more God will give us more. We just have to allow Him into our lives. I am grateful for the Book of Mormon. I know it is true. I know Joseph Smith truly did see God the Father and the Son Jesus Christ and he did restore the true church. Which is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. So grateful for the power of the priesthood and that we have a living prophet here on earth today. Love you all heaps and hope you have an awesome week. Good luck to Ky on your mission. The best 18 months are ahead of you!!

Last Pday we went bowling and played laser tag. Sister Thompson beat all of us. But I got the highest score and I my team was the elders hahahaha only a little proud!

Our ward did a service night for refugees. We got to help out and it was the coolest thing to see everyone come to put together care packages.

Zone conference. Just FYI our relief society is the best because they put together our food for lunch :) Win for Howick ward!

No big deal just took a ride in a nice range rover. Love our members and the help they are too us!

Our sweet Wilson. He made us a cake for coming over and visiting him!

These crazies took us to the Come and See fireside. This is what we call the American pose!

Single Pringle

This week was pretty good. We were able to witness a few miracles that I will share with you!
Monday night:
We deep cleaned our flat this past week and had heaps of members bowls and plates so we decided to take them to the chapel after we ate dinner. We got over and wanted to leave a note but couldnt find a pen. So finally when we did we headed back out and discussed the moon. Because it is massive here and Sister Thompson doesnt believe its small in the states. Anyway, I tell you all this because as we were sitting in the parking lot a car drove down the ramp. We thought it was going to be Bishop or something but it was a south african couple. They pulled up next to us so Sister Thompson got out and started talking with them they asked what time church was because they went last week at 8:30 and no one was there. Church starts at 11. So we told them and they said they were interested in joining and they wanted to come. So we invited them and then told them we are actually the missionaries. They told us they will come check out church then let us know. We didnt see them yesterday but they will come one day we know it!

We had a district blitz on Saturday and we sent the elders to visit some investigators that we havent been able to meet them yet. They came back to report that we slack and apparently they have been waiting for us for a few weeks now. Anyway, They ended up giving him a blessing and then coming back and telling us that he is ready to be baptized and he just needs to be invited. They got a return appointment too so we will go see him this week it was pretty cool.

Also the single pringle... Yeah an embarrassing moment for me. Definitely went into a ladys home thinking she was a member and turns out she wasnt and had no idea who we were.. When she gets baptized it will be a real miracle ;) Love you all heaps and hope you have a good week. God is good and all things work out in his time and his way. Didnt see a lot of miracles happening this week in the way they did. Sometimes the people we think are so ready really arent and the ones we dont expect just come out of no where. I love my calling and I love the people I serve. Thanks for all your prayers. Have a good week!

Love,
Sister Boiteux

You Found Yourself A Good One!

Hello loved ones!!

This week has been hectic. Sister Lavaka finished her mission and headed home this past Thursday. So I got to spend a few days with Sister Lott and Sister Soderberg. I was expecting to receive a sister from the Philippines. She wasnt able to get her visa so I was companionless. On Friday president called and told me that I will be going to pick up Sister Thompson from another zone. She was in a trio. She is actually heading over to the New Mexico Farmington Mission... So Kylie when she is your companion be ready for some good Maori fun!!!

She is wonderful though. We are cracking up about whitewashing because aint nobody got any idea what is going on. Sister Thompson is pretty much related to the entire ward so you could say its inspired that she is here.

Yesterday was Fathers Day in this country. We went and had dinner at a members house and their dad said "if every missionary would pray in unison about fathers day, the prophet would hear and receive revelation." So sorry that we couldnt get everyone together and call home. But happy fathers day round two everyone!!!

My message today is on the power of prayer. Sometimes I reckon we all feel like we are talking to a wall. That we can pray and pray but God wont answer us. Or that we are just talking to nothing. I know that God does hear us and does answer us in his time and in his way. Sometimes we are just too prideful to be able to hear the answer he gives us. We dont intend to be (hopefully) It just happens. As a missionary we pray heaps. Something I have grown more comfortable doing and my testimony truly has grown on it. The way we receive personal revelation is through prayer. Because God is our loving Heavenly Father he wants us to communicate with Him so He can communicate with us. Prayer is one of the greatest gifts we have been given. So if you are struggling even if you are not plea to Heavenly Father to help you. My companion was reading this morning in Enos about how he wrestled with God and that for the most part he prayed for people other than himself. Then she said how she hasnt really wrestled with God. I reflected and couldnt really think of many times when I prayed my heart out to Him. Every major decision we make should be taken to the Lord. Why? Because He knows all and He is here to help us.

I love you all and hope you have a great week and feel of the wonderful spirit that comes with communicating with our Father in Heaven.

Love,
Sister Boiteux

It's Sister Missionaries!!!

Kia Ora mi familia,

This week was full of craziness. SO looks like I actually did get transferred I am now in Panmure, serving in the Howick Ward. Everyone is so young its crazy and its a nice as area too. So definitely different work than west auckland but still good, loving it thus far.

My companion is Sister Lavaka (served with her in Tamaki) She actually goes home in 2 days haha so I will be getting another companion this week.. they still dont know who she is but they know she is coming. We took over an elders area. The ward hasnt had sisters in at least 10 years. Everyone is pretty excited but their expectations are up there. It is fun though they help out a lot with the work and do their home and visiting teaching! We stopped by a members the other night and he was watching the all blacks game.. He asked if we wanted to come in and we asked if he was busy and he said "no just watching rugby" Lol we have learned not to interrupt rugby in this country. So we said oh sorry to interrupt and he said "no worries, the Lords work is more important!" We couldnt go in cause his wife wasnt going to be with us so we let him carry on. It was a funny little moment but really nice to hear members understanding how important the work is.

Seriously so excited to get the work moving here. A few girls are ready to come out with us and we just want to find, teach, and baptize!! It will be wonderful!!!!

Dont really know what to share with you all rather than I know God is real. I know that we are his children. That we cant comprehend what he can. He just works through us to fulfill his will. Sometimes in the mission I wish things would go a different way or other things would happen. And because God loves me the opposite happens. Quite annoying sometimes haha but I know it is for my good and for my growth. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith, and is currently being led by Thomas S Monson. How lucky are we to be part of this church. So a few questions I will let all of you ponder on this week.. Why are you a member? and what does the restoration mean to you?

Love you all heaps! Have a great week,
Sister Boiteux
